The NYPL is one of those quick fun (and free) things to see in the city. I am doing my best to explore as much as I can and our recent Sunday adventure to the library was just one more thing I could cross of my to do list.
The library is absolutely stunning. It is a beautiful piece of architecture and it helps remind me of the history and culture in this city. Being from California, it is a rarity to see something that was constructed before 1940. The art painted in the domes of the ceilings paired with the grand entryways and large marble staircases are just some of the reasons to visit this New York landmark. The library is also home to some very interesting exhibits – my favorites were The ABC of It: Why Children’s Books Matter and Why We Fight: Remembering AIDS Activism. If you have some free time I definitely recommend checking it out.
